Leverett students will contribute to the United Way by collecting coins through the month of October. Each classroom has a bucket to collect coins and the classroom that brings in the most money wins a DDR party. Collections begin Thursday, October 1 and go through Friday, October 30. To kick off the fun we will have sports enthusiasts day this Friday. Please bring a donation and wear your favorite team's hat, jersey, shirt....

School personnel are carefully watching for students who exhibit
flu-like symptoms (fever, achiness, chills, cough, etc.) and are
quickly sending these students to the school nurse to be evaluated. Any
student or staff member who is determined to have flu-like symptoms is
sent home and is instructed to see a doctor and to stay at home until
all symptoms have been relieved for 24 hours without the use of
medication.
Many individuals may experience influenza. The
symptoms of H1N1 are similar to the regular seasonal flu and include
fever of greater than 100°F, cough, sore throat, headache, and body
aches, chills, and fatigue. Some have also reported vomiting and
diarrhea. If your child develops these symptoms, please keep him/her
home from school and contact your health care provider.
Extra
precautions are being taken throughout the school district to ensure
cleanliness. Our custodians are wiping door handles, hand rails, and
desks in every building during the day and after hours with sanitizers
to help further minimize the spread of germs. Restrooms are being
cleaned and disinfected regularly.
Special thanks to Washington
Regional Medical Center and school board member Steve Percival for
providing and facilitating the installation of antibacterial hand wash
dispensers in every classroom throughout the school district. Students
and staff are encouraged to use these frequently.
If you would
like to have more information on the H1N1 virus, please go to the
Centers for Disease Control's website at http://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/.
